Hi Everyone,

Thanks to everyone for their patience and support over the last couple of months, but I'm pleased to deliver a new version of reViSiT (v0.86.5) with many new and changed features, sure to keep everyone happy! Many thanks to those who have provided feedback over the last few weeks (especially Esa and Jeffrey Lim). Because of the number of new features and changes, there might be the odd bug lurking around - but that's what you here for. So, what's new...?

·      Advanced MIDI Support. reViSiT now translates all pitch, volume and panning settings and variations to MIDI messages, allowing you to use every tracker effect (except Oxx, of course) with MIDI. Furthermore, there's a new MIDI settings dialog, allowing you to configure you MIDI instruments and set-up 10 additional MIDI effects, using aftertouch, pressure or MIDI CC messages.

·      New Audio Effects Engine. The audio engine has been totally re-written so that not only is it as compatible with IT2 as possible, but also flexible enough for future expansion. IT2 effects behaviour has been studied down to the single hertz and sample frame using endless sonograms, to ensure that when IT2 file support is finalised, your modules will play perfectly. The new engine also supports multiple effects, though this is not yet available in the pattern editor. NOTE: To mirror IT2 behaviour, all pitches have been moved an octave down, so you will have to transpose your old songs up in this new version.

·      Keymap Pitches and Effects. reViSiT introduces another first in tracking: not only mapping notes to pitches and samples, but effects too! Use the keymap to define a default effect for specific notes of an instrument - for example, create a major arpeggiated instrument and a minor instrument. These effects are combined with the ones in the pattern, to allow more than one effect per note. If the two effects are the same, they automatically add together. For example, not only will a D01 in the keymap and D01 in the row produce the effect of D02, but if a J37 (minor arpeggio) is specified in the keymap, you can use a J10 command to make is major in the row. The creative possibilities are endless.

·      Performance improvements. Some compiler tweaks have allowed up to a 50% improvement in performance. (Note, however, that these tests were conducted on the old audio engine).

·      And MUCH, MUCH more. reViSiT v0.86.5 has many, many more additions and changes, too numerous to list here (even more than v0.86!). See the readme.txt or associated release notes for full details.

The next stop is variable length patterns (viz. advanced sync) for v0.87, then it's on to instrument model completion for v0.88 and improved module and sample file support for v0.89. But most of the groundwork is there already, so fingers crossed for the final strait.

If you download reViSiT, you are requested to provide feedback on your experiences using the online forum.
