feature: Channel jump markers

description: Give each channel a marker bit, for instance in the F11 screen, there should be a key in the pattern editor to move left/right through those markers. This is highly convenient in order to quickly move between -say- a percussion section and a strings section, or a brass section and a wood section. It may not sound relevant, but if you'll ever work with 30+ tracks, then it will. Best way is to add such a marker to the first channel of a group (e.g. 6 channels with brass instruments) and that jumping through tracks means that this marked track becomes the most left track in the pattern editor. This way you have most of your brass instruments on the screen in one go. It's really not a high-end feature, in my old attempts to make a tracker myself I always included this function, and it worked splendidly.

state: provisionally accepted

implementation: future (post v1.0)

chris comments: Accelerating navigation within the pattern is important, but the exact implementation will be a matter of future consideration, and should be integrated with a more comprehensive channel grouping/identification system.

for 'state', stick to these (unless someone has a hotter idea): not yet implemented || currently in development || rejected

for implementaion, use these (unless..): next version || soon || future || never

Also, sticky would be preferred.

New requests below, and chrish should move 'em to the first post so that all feats are in one clear list, in the same format.

Hey, CS,

The actual format of the request comes pretty close to what I had in mind! However, may I suggest that for the time being, we have a different thread for each request, and identify them with "FEATURE:" in the subject line, rather than a single thread for all requests? This would allow people to easily discuss them individually, and yet still be easily trackable. Similarly, bugs should be reported as "ISSUE:"?

ok, in that case, it'd be the best if you rename this thread then, and comment on the actual feat.req. :P
