Hello everyone,

After many weeks of work, I'm delighted to be able to present you with reViSiT v1.1 Pro. Among several other changes, the core innovation in this release is the addition of user-configurable keyboard shortcuts, which can be configured in the Preferences (F12) screen, through a dedicated Key Shortcuts interface, which helps you view, add, edit and delete keys and easily diagnose and solve conflicts. This should allow you to tailor your user experience to your own needs - whether you simply want to change the clipboard keys to mirror Windows(tm) (Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V, etc.)... or reconfigure absolutely everything to mirror "some other tracker".

However, user input isn't the only thing to change in this release - screen output has also received some attention. A new reViSiT font will not only make things look a little less like DOS, but also better support scaling and different font sizes. The addition of a Pattern Font Width option should also help you make the most of your screen space, and perhaps make other system fonts more practical.

Naturally, there's a handful of other fixes, workflow improvements and minor changes thrown in for good measure - so check out the full update history!

A big applause for the hard work Chris, looking really good! Although I'm fully grown into the IT shortcuts, it's a winner for the crowd who couldn't get around the regular ones, and cheers for fixing the 32-bit sample things and getting the font smoother. I'm already curious about what's in the bag for innovation next time! Will try to notify you of any serious bug I encounter.

One question: How do you save configured shortcuts with revisit so it will stay configured like this? I tried with 'save preferences' but it didn't, and it'd be a bit awkward to load your scheme up everytime you load revisit

It should save the scheme when you hit "Save Preferences" - and, indeed, it does seem to save them. However, it looks like it's not restoring them upon startup - I'll take a look when I get home tonight. In the meantime - remember to load/save your schemes manually! If you didn't save your scheme, but used "Save Preferences", you can still get at your customised keys, by loading the reViSiT.ini file in your Windows directory, as though it was a .xml file.

Cheers,
Chris

I think the problem is they don't restore on start-up again like you said, thanks for the tip man.

hey...i like the updated revisit font! it sure looks more modern

is it possible that you also fixed the "looping crash" i reported some weeks ago via the feedback form?! i can't seem to reproduce it anymore in some quick tests. if so... oh i wish i had more time for music these days.

I tracked down the preferences bug - the default keyboard settings were being loaded after the preferences. I'm just tottering through recent crash reports to see if there's anything that I should fix, but so far the problems seems be largely with old copies of reViSiT or other plugins. Once done, I'll issue a new update.

Fegi: Just came across your "looping crash" report, and can confirm that this is not reViSiT - seems to be another plugin called "TRackS3.vpa" (?). 'Hope this helps.

Ok, people - new build is available. With only this one small change, I've just replaced the existing 1.1 download with the new version - so just redownload and run.

All the best,
Chris

The font-width 'bar' isn't area-limited regarding the mouse coord.

If you are dragging, and you're going up too much, it prompts the font chooser. I'd do the simple solution, and area-limit that bar.

*edit* I just noted that this is true for all those bars, like midi delay and such..

Well, it seems the 32 bit sample issues aren't completely gone yet... when I load a 32-bit sample in the sample list, it does appear and can be played, but when I save the project, close and reopen it, the sample seems gone from the list. all other samples are there though. for the rest revisit seems to handle 32 bit samples perfectly now.

Since you can now set your own keys, most of the previous hacks that were introduced to work around regional differences in keyboards have been removed - and the rest will disappear shortly.

Hence, us Leute with German keyboards will also have to swap the Z and Y keys - and can even put the note-off/vol-pan switch command back where it should be, left of the 1-key (^).

I don't have time to make preset layouts for every country where reViSiT is used, but if you establish a scheme that works for you... save it and send it to me, and maybe I'll host it with the download for the benefit of your country fellows. One day, I might include preset schemes in the plugin, but it's too much work for now - especially with somewhat more exciting features in the off.

Best,
Chris

Reactor Grits: I can confirm that 32-bit samples are not being saved correctly. I've been planning 1.1.1 for sometime before Friday anyway, to add the documentation updates for the new keyboard features, so I'll be sure to fix 32-bit support for this release. In the meantime, it's best not to use 32-bit samples!
